FOREWORD
This is a story about Olivia and her undying love for her son, Addison. It’s a story about the circumstances of life and the consequences of the choices we make. It’s a story about a precious boy and his journey into manhood. It’s a story about a son and his mother who lived under the umbrella of a two-time Vietnam veteran with PTSD, a decent man, although one who is consumed by memories of war, and the need for alcohol to cover his pain.
Olivia’s (Journal)
My heart isn’t what it used to be
It’s been tattered and bent
It’s been run over, ripped from my ribcage, and Stomped on
It’s been beaten black and blue
It’s been bled dry
It’s been reshaped and settled into a place where tears turn to stone

Franshesca walked into my life one month after I hit rock bottom. She searched what was left of me and found but a speck of will to live just long enough to reclaim what Addison deserved. She found his soul hidden in the shattered pieces of my heart and with a wrench she bared it wide open and let it bleed until every speak of pain and hurt had drenched the earth with its shame.
